Palmer House Hilton Hosts Preparing for Greatness Childrens Etiquette Luncheon

September 29th, 2015

The Palmer House Hilton, in collaboration with Chicago City Clerk Susana A. Mendoza and her Culinary Kids initiative and the non-profit organization Common Threads, will host Preparing for Greatness, a fun-filled educational etiquette dining experience for 60 children from the respective organizations. Hosted in the hotel’s legendary Empire Room, attendees will dine at a long King’s table set with priceless fine china from Bertha Hilton Honore Palmer’s private collection, currently stored in the hotel’s vault and put into use for this very special occasion. Barbara Finney, President and Founder of the Etiquette and Leadership Institute of Illinois, will be present to demonstrate the proper etiquette and manners that accompany such an exquisite dining experience.

“We are delighted to present Preparing for Greatness, a program geared toward motivating the youth of our community,” said Dean Lane, General Manager of the Palmer House Hilton. “In collaboration with Chicago City Clerk Susana A. Mendoza, her Culinary Kids initiative, Common Threads, and etiquette expert Barbara Finney, we join together to further educate local children in need on proper etiquette and manners, stressing the importance of providing our children with the nourishment they need to excel both physically and mentally.”

Award-winning Executive Chef Stephen Henry will serve a three-course meal, consisting of:

Tomato Bisque – oven-roasted, served a la minute tableside, grilled cheese croutons

Salad – home grown lettuces, strawberries, orange, melon, rooftop honey dressing

Poulet – stuffed chicken with tomato, mozzarella, oregano, basil, creamy cheesy ditalini
